This film feels pretty disconnected from The Shining which in my opinion is actually a good thing. It gets to tell its own story which I actually quite enjoy but does demystify some aspects of the original a bit. The final act can be a bit fanservicy but I think it earns it

They are pandering to me and it only half worked

The shining didn’t need a sequel, especially not this one

You know, I only watched this because of my love for the shining but mostly because of my love for Ewan McGregor and even so it was still boring

i actually really loved this movie. it was so crazy good. seeing the shine in its full power was so cool. seeing the like alien ppl whatever idk was cool. billy dying was so sad bruh. he was so cool. seeing a version of jack and wendy was pretty cool too. danny looked so cool with his eye thing too. i loved this movie a lot man

was a pleasant surprise! it was touching how they explored the themes of death and alcoholism, and how danny was able to understand the shine in a more healthy way
rose the hat was such a cool antagonist
i enjoyed how they recontextualized some of the shining too

BORINGGGGGGGG. Remember having a horror movie marathon with the Shining with Zoe just to have this shitty ass sequel. Did not fill any gaps, barely brought up the OG movie, completely separate movie. 0/10 would not watch again either as a sequel or an entirely separate movie.

Great movie. Love the vomit scene.

I think this gets too much hate honestly, yeah of course compared to the shining it’s not great. If you just watch it as a standalone film with some lore it’s pretty alright

Pretty good. Liked this better than The Shining I think. Well made. Good acting
