this movie is so period idgaf it’s so fun love him love her. idk what it is abt kyle gallagher but i will watch ANYTHING with him in it i love him.
the best part is how you can tell as the movie goes on that patty is being her own person for probably the first time ever and realizing things she’s never given a second thought only because she has never had someone who was patient enough to teach her and answer her questions

Cringe. Though it’s “watt-pad” in the best of ways. Definitely, a good wait for the ending. Loved the story line. Also do need to see where I can stream the song because it is a bop. Also, I hate to say it but the casting was like pretty legit 😂

I think that this was really beautiful. The relationship they shared was heartwarming. And the acting was woah! There are definitely so many slurs, so I would not watch if you think you might be uncomfortable. Overall this movie is really different, which is pretty cool.

tbh at the start, i thought i wouldn’t like this movie that much bc…
1. it seemed like their #1 goal was to nonsensically shove every slur into a movie
2. it has that inexperienced good girl + overly sexual bad boy dynamic that i can’t rlly get into at my grown age. if i… (1/?)

That song is definitely punk rock! Looks like not all hope was lost for the year 2020 because this shit is great! Kyle Gallner has always been underrated, and pairing him up with Emily Skeggs flowed so well. I'll give it rewatch sometime maybe end up being my favorite that year.

Dinner in America
Rating: 8.4/10
Dinner in America is a brilliant, hilarious, and surprisingly sweet modern cult classic that masterfully balances abrasive humor with a tender love story. Writer-director Adam Carter Rehmeier delivers a stunningly confident and anarchic film powered by two phenomenal lead performances.
Highlights
- Original Story: The screenplay is a sharp, witty, and unapologetically punk-rock piece of writing that finds heart and sweetness amidst chaotic humor.
- Phenomenal Leads: Kyle Gallner and Emily Skeggs deliver standout performances as Simon and Patty, with a bizarre and perfect "opposites attract" chemistry.
- Confident Direction: Adam Carter Rehmeier's direction is a stunning achievement, handling the film's tonal shifts with ease and infusing it with raw, anarchic energy.
Criticisms
- Abrasive Humor: The film's humor is extremely abrasive, aggressive, and intentionally offensive, which may not be for everyone.
Verdict
Dinner in America is a brilliant and special film destined for "all-time cult classic" status. It's a hilarious, shocking, and romantic story that's a testament to bold, independent filmmaking, making it an absolute must-see for fans of edgy, character-driven movies.
