Diane Warren: Relentless
I adored how much I got to know Diane through this doc. She just really wants that Oscar, and I hope she gets it.

Diane Warren: Relentless
It is so clear the level of genius Diane Warren operates at and how iconic her work has been in pop culture, in the past. However, I largely thought this documentary was directionless and more like it was to give Warren props for her work and stroke her ego as opposed to actually reveal some truth or interesting story.
There were sparse moments of the documentary I enjoyed, but I just found myself being irritated by the lack of depth. As a whole, this just felt like “poor me, an obscenely wealthy person with countless awards and accolades who hasn’t gotten one specific award” and it just felt shallow. To be topped off with an attitude of entitlement, as if because she has been nominated so many times, she is more deserving of the award than other incredibly talented nominees. It all just reads as a ploy to garner another nomination (hey, it worked) with a shockingly shallow song, despite having the incredible vocal talents of Kesha to deliver it.
There is no arguing Warren’s early work is legendary, but most of what she is putting out these days comes off as contrived attempts at getting that Oscar, with no real emotional depth to her work.
I did make a playlist of her early and incredible songs after the doc ended though. Real bangers for baking and cleaning.

had no clue she was diagnosed on the spectrum, it makes so much sense sense and makes me even more of a fan of hers
