This movie is bad except for like one funny line. Also, it seems kind of weird to take a Japanese story and set it in the US with American actors, don't really watch anime so I have no idea what the comparison would be. The film is best watched with the goal of mocking it. 2.5/10

it’s okay but i like the anime way better

i remember liking it one of the first few anime’s that i’ve watched

Havent watched the anime yet, but the movie was great imo. The acting was very cringey ngl, but besides that, the plot was intense and enjoyable. The moment where we realised who the real villain is, is probably the best part of the movie. I love the way the plot twist turned out

This film was blatantly extremely boring and a cringefest- some of the actors performances were just cringey that’s all i can say.. the only reason i’ve given it a two is for some of the other actors who carried the film & one of the death scenes which held its own.

I watched it a while ago, and compared to the anime, it's crap, but if we set the anime aside, the movie is okay.

I absolutely love how HORRIBLE it is. I find it better than most comedies I’ve watched. Rewatched it already like 4 times and will definitely see it again! I’ve even made a comprehensive list of elements that this abomination and the original differ in. So fun!

definitely a guilty pleasure movie for me 😅

A shame of an “adaptation”. It was its own fuckin’ story. Light doesn’t act like he does in the manga and anime and if anything is lead by his dick. The only good thing about this train wreck was Defoe as Ryuk and, frankly, his talent was wasted here. Overall, a bland far cry😒

Not as bad as you’d imagine, but still very bad in a sense that you can’t really find an excuse to justify the existence of this remake. Certainly a different take on many of the characters though.
