Dear Santa
It was cute but the kid with the teeth was overly distracting.
Loved Jack Black
Definitely family friendly. But maybe too family friendly🤷🏻♀️ Thought it would be a little darker

Dear Santa
It’s cute and fairly harmless. Jack Black never disappoints. It’s not an instant classic like Elf or anything like that, but worth a chuckle every few years I’d say.

Dear Santa
"Dear Santa" is a dark fantasy comedy film that tells the story of a young boy who writes a Christmas list to Santa Claus, only to meet what appears to be Satan instead. Directed by Bobby Farrelly and starring Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Post Malone, the film had me entertained with its quirky humor and unique premise. However, it fell short of being a standout film due to its inconsistent tone and predictable plot.
Rating
4.4/10 ⭐️
I gave this film a decent rating due to its entertaining moments and strong performances. However, the film's tone and plot issues held it back from reaching its full potential.
The Good
• Narrative & Story (Strengths): The film's premise is unique, and the story has some interesting moments. The themes of Christmas and the idea of making deals with a mysterious figure are well-explored.
• Characters (Strengths): Jack Black delivers a solid performance as the voice of Santa/Satan, bringing his signature energy to the role. The young actor playing the lead role also does a great job.
• Enjoyment & Engagement: I enjoyed the film's quirky humor and some of the comedic moments.
The Not So Good
• Narrative & Story (Weaknesses): The plot is predictable, and the tone is inconsistent. The film veers between comedy and dark fantasy, which can be jarring at times.
• Directing & Filmmaking (Weaknesses): The direction is uninspired, and the pacing could be improved. Some scenes feel forced or awkwardly edited.
• Enjoyment & Engagement (Negatives): The film's tone issues and predictable plot detracted from my enjoyment.
The Verdict
"Dear Santa" is a decent Christmas comedy film that fans of Jack Black and quirky humor might enjoy. With its unique premise and entertaining moments, the film is worth watching. However, it's not a standout film due to its tone and plot issues. I would recommend it to families or fans of Christmas movies, but with tempered expectations.
