Folk Horror Fall continues… I like the use of the industrial settings (hellscape?) for the rites & sacrifice. There’s something interesting using that as the landscape for these traditions & practices.
The movie though is mostly a mishmash of ideas and concepts, not fully realized. It creates a very confusing narrative. I get what happened and what the attempt is, without really understanding why. Or what all the connections are.
The cult scenes remind me of a mix of Sisters of Mercy coupled with Jason Statham’s dancing from The Shamen “Comin’ On” video. 🤣
PS: The tag line “Rosemary’s Baby meets The Wicker Man” implies something this is not. It’s very surface level. There’s a similarity of ideas, but that’s about it.
