Daddy Longlegs
an early collaboration between the safdie’s and ronald bronstein, proving their masterful understanding of film from the start. an upsetting and nerve-wracking experience, wildly immersive; it’s impossible not to worry for these kids at every moment. wonderfully shot and acted

The Safdie’s are great at managing to recreate reality for how it is. This film is their best at doing that; Characters talk/shout over one another and they’re flawed. The directing can be easily dismissed as amateurish but it’s rough which delivers a certain intensity.
