Cut Throat City

It’s fine.

This action packed crime thriller had me hooked from the beginning. Shameik Moore absolutely kills in this role. The supporting cast is amazing made up of Wesley Snipes, Ethan Hawke, and Terrance Howard among others. They definitely don’t phone it in which keeps the story engaging and moving forward. The ending really got me. I love the double perspectives we see in the end. With that being said, I don’t think the last 20ish minutes was absolutely necessary (could’ve shortened the runtime a bit) only because the scene where Blink dances with Demyra and then starts drawing again could’ve acted as a good ending without taking anything away from the story in my opinion. The story itself is heartfelt and emotional. The action is gritty and in your face, reflecting the environment the characters are living in. There are also some great shot selections and editing moments that reflect the artistry of the movie. A definite diamond in the rough. 7.5/10 recommend
