Fourth film for my Spanish cinema class.

We gotta pick up the pace for this class. I already understand how these films depict the horrible country that was Francoist Spain, but man are these films mundane.

I can appreciate them for their importance, but looking at them from an entertainment standpoint (which is what all media is… entertainment) this is boring.

I’m fine with not having a plot, and I do think that the use of past memories of her mother was a creative way to progress the narrative, but at the end of the day there’s too much outdated stuff for me in this to be comfortable watching.

We should not have naked little girls in films or little naked children at all in film for that matter. We should not have a maid flashing a little girl as well, because let’s be honest, what the fuck was the point of that scene? It had nothing to do with the story and it was not good commentary on motherhood idc what anyone says.

Maybe it was a little worse for me cuz I’m watching this while I’m sick, but anyway, i understand the themes of the movie and its significance during its time period. That being said, it doesn’t mean it’s an exceptional film by any means.
