I’ve never cried so hard in a movie and I’m not one to cry easily. The main actor is young but so talented and broke my heart multiple times from the emotion he portrayed. This is definitely a must-see movie.

while this is probably my favorite movie out of the ones i’ve seen in spain (outside of la haine) i really can’t help but notice how similar all european movies are stylistically. you’d think there was only one director in all of europe

Okay… well I wasn’t expecting the film to take that route. Only… mildly upset me…

I loved this at the start, it was beautiful, subtle and just felt incredibly real. Not to stay I didn’t like the direction it took, the shift took me off guard, sure - but I respected the swing. But with that development, the momentum began to slow, interest began to wander. The plot ends up going around circles for a little bit, floundering.

The two young boys were very good, like stupidly so. They gave better performances than a lot of Hollywood actors. Everyone around them was also great, but it does feel solely focused on them for the most part.

Nothing ever felt especially manufactured here, which I loved. It never “tried” to make you cry, it was just naturally upsetting and emotional. I just wish that middle had a bit more to it to match what came before and what followed.

So heartbreaking watching how a friendship as strong as Leo’s and Remi’s can shift, and how each of them tries to deal with it.

I wasn’t expecting that Remi, or anyone, would die in this film, and that the main aspect would be grief. After the incident, the story takes a new direction and shows us how death of a loved one can affect others. I really appreciated how the film presented that from multiple perspectives, from parents’ point of view and from Leo’s.

I also found the dynamic between Remi’s mom and Leo very well portrayed. They clearly need each other’s company, yet every interaction between them is filled with anxiety and unspoken emotions.

Overall, a very powerful film, that presents perfectly how hard it is to process grief, especially for a child.
