- I love older women so I get it
- However, the age gap was icky
- Beautiful cinematography
- Love the ending
- A bit slow
- Idk man it was good, I’m gay, I’m yearning, but I’m also feeling a bit 🫀
- Why does she have the exact same haircut as her daughter bro

Personally this is my favourite lesbian movie. The cast was just perfect. Rooney and Cate fits perfectly. I need to mention it was quiet slow piece but the dramatic story force you to watch it till the end.

Merry Christmas to women! everyone else move along.

really wanted to like this. i think for a young queer person, it’s hard to be relatable. portrait of a lady on fire was extremely relatable, so the fact that it’s a period piece is not the issue. disappointed.

3y

I watch it every Christmas as if it was my first time watching it, and i get the same feelings every end of a year.

3y

i was expecting it to end horribly depressing, because, unfortunately, most queer love stories are. THIS WAS GREAT THO! still so real about the life altering consequences that being queer has had and still does. ofc it’s problematic but it was the 50’s- damn near everything was

This is a really sad movie. From the beginning you see two people who LOVE each other but know that what they have is impossible at the time. The movie also shows the horrible aspects of coming out to a society that thinks we’re something disgusting and where we’ll never belong:(

I’ve laughed, kicked my feet, sobbed, thought about how ridiculously attractive Cate Blanchett is and grieved the end of this movie. I say with sincerity that I love it with my whole heart.

it’s just beautiful, one of my favorite movie!

Carol

incredible. perfectly captures the feeling of being in love with an older woman. i’ve rewatched multiple times, and it never loses those first time watch feels. one of my comfort movies.

3y

i really liked how intense yet silent their emotions were for each other. their relationship grew quite quickly, but that also led to them having some consequences of their own. i liked the vague ending, although it led to some questions for their future together :)

3y

It was realistic considering the time setting. The romance wasn’t forced or fetishized, thankfully. Personally I like needing to think for myself which I did a lot watching this as a lot of things went unsaid.

3y

Classic, watch it every Christmas time.
