Captain America: Brave New World Reviews

This one stunk but could have been a lot better. There’s definitely concepts of a good movie, but every good moment drowns in a sea of slop. Also I still want a Red Hulk skin in Marvel Rivals. Also also Death to Israel, 1.5/5

6.9 - I guess my rating is looking kind of high, but I’ve just accepted that the MCU needs to exclusively be “shut my brain off & don’t judge it too harshly” media now.

First, it’s more of a sequel to “The Incredible Hulk” than it is a Captain America story, which is fine but I just don’t care for (or really clearly remember) that movie. It’s just hard to throw a sequel out 17 years later.

Second, its biggest issue is one that the MCU has struggled with a lot, & that’s tone consistency. When this is a classic Cap espionage & political thriller like “Winter Soldier” or “Civil War,” it’s pretty engaging. It ties up some loose ends. It has a bit of suspense. And there’s some really fun action. But then it’s broken up awkwardly with poor attempts at humor & excessive exposition to attempt to make up for the 17 year gap. And the visuals are overall just ok especially compared to some of the best of The Infinity Saga.

It’s clear that extensive delays & rewrites hurt this. But there’s enough there to service MCU fans & it’s short enough to not feel like a chore. And those are wins that the MCU should take.

Criminally underrated to say the least as the action is fully refined to the upmost degree making it feel like classic marvel is back in town. Loved every bit, not to mention the fact they ended it with a Kendrick Lamar song . Overall 9.1/10 may be cinema bias but phenomenal

Idk why some people are saying this is horrible. It’s not on the same level as The Winter Solider and has its flaws but still enjoyable. I’m happy with Antony Mackie’s performance as Cap and some scenes do hit. I’d say this movie is worth it.

I went in with low expectations due to the critics but it was actually really good. Holy shit action scenes were amazing!

Tbh, it felt more as a Hulk sequel rather than a Falcon movie. I miss the iconic Marvel intro

I really really enjoyed this movie. I believe it is getting extremely overhated for no real reason as I think it’s one of the better movies Marvel has produced recently. I think the story was fantastic, the first real grounded MCU film in a long time, the acting was great, and Mackie really filled the Cap boots well. The main issue with this movie was the marketing, the whole buildup to red hulk was poorly done because they spoiled it early on. There was also some wacky CGI but that doesn’t bother me. Overall I had an amazing time with this movie and can’t wait to see more Sam Wilson Cap. A solid 8.5/10

At its core, this feels like two completed films very poorly stitched together; only made worse through what can only be described as breakneck, borderline ridiculous editing. While there’s no lack of chemistry the script’s handling of characters is insulting, presentations just feel unnatural. The same droning, exhaustive score plays endlessly without ever adding anything. The yapping Boston Terrier that is Shira Haas killed every scene she was in while Giancarlo was completely wasted. This desperately wanted to be like The Winter Soldier, instead we got nauseating CGI, the worst green screens in Hollywood, and for some reason Red Hulk. Don’t bother. 1.5/5

It was a disappointment, it is a good action film overall, but not a good Marvel film. It feels so wrong watching Anthony Mackie’s Captain America. I love him, but as Falcon. The one and only Captain America is Chris Evans. If you want to watch a chilling movie than this is a good choice.

Marvel is always good

I had zero hope for this being anywhere near as good as the trilogy, mostly because of Julius Onah, Marvel's recent cheapness (how do they still decrease in quality?), and all the BTS mess. Surprisingly, it does have the comic book feel I yearn for...only I have two major issues. The first on how this doesn't feel like a standalone, it's 90% unexplained randomness with bullet-point exposition before a major set change. Leaning into my second issue of Cap not being the centre of the story. I didn't learn anything about him other than Btec Black Widow and Btec Falcon. Every trope just feels like downgraded replicas made for 13-year-olds. Feels half-hearted, but it's expected from Disney.

While Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson confidently wields the shield, the movie struggles to carry its weight, landing somewhere between an ambitious political thriller and a standard superhero outing.

I'd like to give this 5/5 but tbh why would you put red hulk on the cover and then the whole movie is just about trying to keep it a secret😭 like c'mon. But I gotta say this one felt like a marvel movie again. Gave me Captain America: The winter soldier vibes.

Solid movie. One shot towards the end the lightning was a little off and kinda weird that they went from Virginia to the Indian Ocean in like 30 seconds but overall it was very cap winter soldier esque.
