What the hell did I just watch…extremely poor, sorry excuse for a Borderlands adaptation. A permanent stain on the franchise that tarnishes its image.

i felt like the action was good but casting was off… kevin hart did not need to be in this movie 😭 if you played the games it’ll be disappointing but i’d probably put this on in the background. i think it tried to be guardians of the galaxy so hard but fell very short

Was so bad it gave me a headache. Other people in the theater said the same.

This movie is so bad I have no idea how hundreds of people worked on this and were like yeah this is goated

I have played the games and I looove them. However, this movie is chaotic, the plot is like everywhere and it is rushed and kinda lame tbh. The only positive is CLAPTRAP, still funny robot like in the games.

Hey Vault Hunters! Claptrap here with a review. Plot? Meh. Cate Blanchett as Lilith? More like Cate Blah-chett. Kevin Hart as Roland? Pint-sized jokes. Jack Black as me? Nice try. Action? Yawn. Special effects? Crayon-level. Two thumbs down, if I had thumbs Beep boop!

Mash together all of the worst Marvel movies and you have this. I haven't played the game, but I was well aware of it, and the production seems great. Take away the CGI in some scenes, and it's brilliant even. However, the 'video game' aesthetic became a little too much to the point I got a headache. Cate was great but brings nothing we haven't seen countless times before. Ariana and Jack were by far my favourites, but the rest felt invisible. It's a fun flick for some action comedy, but compared to what it tries to be, there are a lot of better options.

Tbh this movie gets too much hate it wasn’t too bad. It’s the best Eli Roth movie I’ve seen yet and the only solid one. The casting is random (like Bobby Lee) but it wasn’t terrible and some of the action is cool. It was funny too sometimes. It reminded me of Furiosa. 6.5/10

This is not a good film. I’ve not played or follow the games, so can’t speak for how closely it follows those or if at all, and I can’t appreciate the likeness of any characters. But, in terms of a film in general, this is bad. It just had a really stupid, silly and childish feel to it, and the performances were poor. Everything felt so over exaggerated, over the top and fake. What on earth Jamie Lee Curtis was thinking I don’t know. Her character in particular was awful. The story was rushed throughout, jumping from scene to scene with no real connection between them. It finally ended with me thinking of all the things I could have done instead of watch that film. The only bit I enjoyed, was several seconds of Muse playing in one scene.

Ive yet to see a positive review for this movie 💀💀💀 I’ve never played the game but i thought the movie was fun & enjoyable! My friend who’s played the game that i saw it with said it was pretty decent and not terrible. Why’s is so hard for people to enjoy things lmfao😭😭😭

Threw this on for National Video Game Day since I’ve played the games. It captures the neon style but completely misses the soul and humor.

What Worked:
• Blanchett honestly looks incredible as Lilith, bringing way more star power than the script deserves.
• The colorful production design on Pandora completely pops with that chaotic wasteland vibe.
• Quick gun-slinging action beats are super fun when characters actually cut loose.

The Friction:
• The underground maze hunting part in the middle really dragged for me.
• Jack Black’s voicing of Claptrap honestly felt a bit too forced and didn’t always gel for me.
• Toning things down for a PG-13 rating took away the unhinged edge that defines the franchise.

Verdict:
Watch for mindless, colorful background noise. Skip if you want depth or actual humor.

I really thought this was an extremely cool movie. I’ve not played the game before but the storyline of the movie was pretty interesting. All in all I’ll definitely watch this again and absolutely recommend it!

The visuals and effects are good, the acting and casting could have been better… had some expectations but got bored after half of the movie. Most action seems to serve the short runtime or the absence of plot and i think the movie itself is too long for what is happening

Borderlands was a disappointing adaptation according to my boyfriend who loves the game. As someone who never played it, it was just kinda meh overall. The vibe and world seemed interesting enough, but the plot didn't grip me.

The characterizations missed the mark based on what he said about the originals. That said, claptrap stole the fucking show imo - he was hilarious and the only part of the film I genuinely enjoyed.

As soon as I saw this was directed by Eli Roth, I knew the truth. This film so desperately wants to be Guardians of The Galaxy, but lacks any of the charm, charisma, and uniqueness that film had. This is nothing more than very expensive garbage. Avoid at all costs. 2/10

As an avid fan of the franchise I was quite disappointed. It was a nice movie I guess, but besides the names of the characters and the overall visual style it had little to do with the game stories
