Shot beautifully, but the movie is so fucking boring. I try so hard to like old movies but I just can't. The delivery is always so bland. The whole point of acting is to forget that the person on screen is acting

Idk i guess im not a deep movie person bc idrk wth i just watched. It was fine, entertaining. The internal insanity that grows throughout was captivating but i think i was waiting for a bit more thrill to it.

Besides the brown face I actually really enjoyed this movie, it didn’t feel slow to me oddly enough, because the story was actually very interesting to me. the young general was my favorite, the cinematography was absolutely beautiful

i totally didn't watch it because of a certain david farrar...

My main takeaway is this: when everything is too much, so you have to flee from it all in order to stay alive (love this message). Gorgeous shots and amazing technical craftsmanship, a bit slow at times but a classic nonetheless also I am so Sister Ruth down

Excellently shot and still looks immaculate (ironic since Immaculate borrows a lot from this). Great performances and a very engaging style and tone

Overly preachy, especially for a movie about religion. Structurally, the story isn’t very cohesive and tends to stray from focusing on one character in a way the keeps it easy to follow.
