Black Mass
A solid modern day gangster biopic with a great performance by Depp. Boston loyalists will surely appreciate this, and the average movie goer will as well. Not the Godfather, but a solid crime flick.

True stories are always good. The FBI guy acted a little over the top but maybe that’s how he was. Depp was amazing

7.2 - I’m surprised to see some strong dislike towards this. I watched on my return flight from Boston to KC & it was more than good enough to pass the time.
I’m not blown away, but it’s a decently entertaining mob story. After a bit of post watch reading it seems like the characterization of a couple of the key players, including Johnny Depp’s Bulger are a little off, but I think the performance Depp gives is one of his better in recent years. Overall, the absolutely loaded cast all performed well minus a couple iffy accents, & kept me interested in what otherwise could have been a bore. There’s even a few that maybe should have gotten more screen time.
The settings & core “mob moments” could have been more memorable, & the conclusion should have been more powerful, especially with its recency.
It’s not one I’m itching to rewatch, but all in all, a solid modern mob genre addition.
