Underrated movie. Not sure why critics didn’t love it as much as I did because it was insanely funny and action packed

They should’ve called this movie “boring copy and paste side characters” because you see and hear more from them than you do black Adam. Don’t waste your time on this movie if you actually expect something different.

8.1 very surprised. DC may be back on the map. The CGI for the most part was fantastic. Dr. Fate and hawk man were amazing I even enjoyed atom smasher and cyclone. Black Adam was badass and the “dry” acting from the rock kind of worked for the role. It has its downs but very good

Threw this on again to celebrate Superman Day (that Henry Cavill cameo at the very end still gets me hyped).

Honestly, my filmmaker eye still cringes at how heavily they rely on slow-motion during the fights: the digital effects end up looking super rough and weightless. And the middle part really dragged for me with all the clunky Justice Society exposition.

But stripping away all the messy spectacle, looking at the story from Superman’s POV really hit home on this rewatch. You have Black Adam, a guy totally consumed by his own grief and vengeance, destroying everyone in his path. Then Clark literally descends from the sky, and instead of throwing a punch at this massive threat, he simply offers to have a conversation. Through my Methodist faith lens, seeing Superman prioritize peacemaking and dialogue over immediate violence is a beautiful reminder of what unconditional grace looks like. It shows how true strength isn’t about crushing the people who are broken, but having the patience to offer them a chance at redemption.

It’s a super bumpy ride, but that clash of ideals still totally works for me.

The rock has a massive ego and no range.
