I’m John Malkovich and I never signed off on them making this movie

by far one of the strangest films i’ve ever had the pleasure of watching; incredibly unique, funny, and strangely ominous, with phenomenal writing and perfect performances from all, especially john malkovich. kaufman’s first work of genuine mastery

I liked the idea of the movie. But I found the dialogue a bit odd and was hard for me to like.

I am hella uncomfortable...

A deep dive off the cliff of absurdity that plays on one’s curiosity of ridiculousness in the best possible way. It’s a simple film that blows expectations out of the water with how fluid the story moves and how great the cast is, yet the story doesn’t need any complex narrative themes or outreaching audience participation to enjoy it, it simply snowballs in league with the interest it plants within you. The concept is so hilariously bizarre that you are implored to stick with it, the payoff of which is masterful, it’s a great example of a plain cascade narrative done brilliantly. Spike Jonze nailed the claustrophobic conditions necessary to tell such a bizarre story, the overall reach of this film is in its absurdity and he nailed how that should translate to the structure it needed. It’s a highly entertaining watch, if not a little weird. 4.5/5

Shockingly good, and incredible acting performances

actually watched like 2 weeks ago. made me deeply uncomfortable and possibly ruined my life in some ways but it’s still an instant favorite
