Truly heartbreaking. I’m amazed by how they were able to evoke the horrible feeling of watching someone consistently hurt themselves, but you can do nothing about it. I also loved that they never vilify Nic.

Insane acting. Heart wrenching in a way that is so accurate and unfortunately so common. It really touched my heart 🥲

Great movie all around; acting, cinematography, pacing, etc. I’ve seen a few drug/addiction related movies and while they all send a powerful message, this one stands above all in my opinion.

I liked how the movie followed Nics family just as much, if not more, than it followed him. Usually, addiction affects those around you just as much, if not more, than yourself. This movie embodies that.

The love and support his family shows in this movie is powerful and it directly justifies them “giving up” towards the end. Watching the relapses is brutal, gut wrenching , and real.

Steve carrells acting threw me off a little bit. He did a good job but some of the scenes where he had to demonstrate lots of emotion, especially verbally, seemed weird. I think his best scenes were where he said very little and used his body language to convey emotion or a mix of emotions. All around good, not great tho. Expected for a guy who usually does comedic roles.
