Batman Returns

6.6 - it’s campy & everything about it is unhinged: the costumes, the hair/makeup, the dialogue, the acting from Devito, Pfeiffer, and Walken, & the Tim Burton-ness of the whole thing. It’s also dark thematically. But it’s shallow (esp MK) & far from the “Batman” I picture.

The best thing about this movie compared to the first one is that there is no Vicki Vale.

Oswald > Joker

not as good as the first but i expected that. penguin was both good and bad, definitely a unique take on the character at least. i didnt like cat woman, very campy and cringey. it had flaws but still a fun ride, and the art direction for both these are amazing 7/10

probably the best of the tim burton batman films, all of which i’m decently impartial to; i don’t love his aesthetic and i wish some scenes had a darker tone. still, impressive effects and performances, and danny devito is pretty killer as the penguin. a fun time
