I only watched this for my film class and lord I thought it was boring. All im ancient language so u have to read subtitles. It’s like reading a boring book and movie at the same time. 4.8/10

the fact I could feel and understand exactly what was happening and having no subtitles for most of it just shows you how well it was crafted

Brutally vivid depictions of life before the terrible colonization even started. Maybe not completely accurate however not false either. Heartbreaking when the children are on screen ,personally, still loved this movie since childhood

Long before European colonization, the civilizations of the Yucatán were already in decline. Cruelty was almost at its peak, and violence already felt raw and animalistic. Torture, slavery, and the like were far from being invented by just one people. That kind of hatred seemed to already live in everyone’s heart, no matter the civilization.

The violence in this film was striking, and I say striking because it felt relentless and real, but also kind of hard to even imagine at times.

It was really interesting to watch a film without adapted language versions, which pulls you even deeper into the realism.

A beautiful film overall, with insane production quality.

Action packed and historically based film capturing the good and bad of humanity before the modern age. The pacing and plot are both great and the cinematography is beautiful. A lot of gore but it’s necessary for the story. Brilliant movie and Mel Gibson is fantastic.
