10/10 amazing movie. Everything I look in a movie , laughable bc I hardly laugh in theaters. A good storyline and amazing acting. Also I’m so happy that it’s a long movie, I’m done with those 1:30h movies. Please go watch it if you have the time! My favorite movie of 2024!

First off I have to say, Ivan initially made me uncomfortable because he quite literally looks 16. But I think that’s a fitting choice as he acts the part as well. Just perpetually a child. And once you meet his parents and the way they enable and baby him it makes sense.
Despite the childishness though, I still thought him and Ani were gonna have their pretty woman Cinderella story. They didn’t and honestly as sad as that made me for Ani, it would’ve been pretty unrealistic. But man, the more this film went on, the more I disliked Ivan. The way he treated Ani and the way he essentially disposed of her was just bleh. But true to the selfish hedonistic person he is who cannot look past himself. Doesn’t make it any less frustrating!
On a lighter note, the comedy in this film really worked for me. My favorite part was the dad going into a laughing fit during the annulment scene. Very unserious 😭
Also I’m in love with Igor sawry. And kinda sorta in love with his relationship with Ani. It’s not the healthiest or most rational by any means but it felt genuine. Out of everyone involved in this mess, he seemed to be the only one who actually saw her as a person. Apparently people disliked the ending which I get but I thought it was beautiful :(
I was kinda scared going into this movie because I’ve seen discourse around it and it not being worth the hype but I personally get it 💆🏽♀️

so many things were wrong with this movie!! the russian threw me off because i didn’t understand what was said, its incredibly slow (i fell asleep), and theres hardly a plot besides showing sex every 5 minutes 🤦🏽♀️ i didn’t finish it, but i don’t know if i ever would.

my god what a film. the cinematography is fucking insane. every shot tells a story, so visually appealing it’s insane. the bokeh, the anamorphics, the lens flares, the camera movements, those car ride shots fuuuck so good. the color palette is phenomenal, the lighting, the set design & omg what an incredible cast. yes there’s a lot of fucking lmao but it’s just part of the story. i laughed so hard when the family came to the house and shit hit the fan HAHA. overall an emotional roller coaster. i fucking loved Igor but damn the ending really hit hard, i have mixed feelings about it but still really loved it. one of my favorite independent films to this day. 10 / 10

didn’t find this progressive or profound; really it’s just a random white guy’s sex fantasies portrayed on screen under a thin veil of… idk… raising awareness for sex workers? most overhyped movie of the year so far. just because there’s a woman doesn’t make it feminist.

-100/10
it’s full of Russian actors and characters, which is an instant no-go for me
The female representation? Absolutely terrible
The way they treat the main character? It's a nightmare scenario for any woman and somehow they market this as comedy?
Avoid it at all costs!

I feel like I watched three movies in one series all at once. It felt like the perfect binge.

I might finish this if it wins any awards but I can't stand these types of movies. Way too overrated and the substance behind the beauty feels excruciating.

A phenomenal film that shows the true nature of the stripper/escort industry.
What I loved about this film is how unexpected it was. I really had no idea how it would end, and I love that.
Mikey Madison is absolutely incredible as Anora/Ani. She better get an Oscar nomination

Mikey Madison gives one hell of a performance in this and I really liked the commentary on how sex workers are treated. I also appreciated how the ending left me with lots of contemplative thoughts about the message of the story that made me appreciate the movie even more

wow a movie about SW directed by a man. exactly what i expected unfortunately. we learn nothing about the main character, it felt exploitative and lacked a proper storyline and depth. & people laughing at her being tied up and assaulted??? surprised this won any awards.

Mikey Madison did an amazing performance in this, but I feel like the writing was off. Why were they running around chasing Ivan for half the movie? Maybe I just didn’t understand

Okay movie with some chuckling scenes however I am confused on how it won Best Picture at the Oscars.

Review: No expectations coming into the movie but came out feeling like it was “ok”. The movie itself felt long but that’s mainly bc of the first 45 mins are just B-rolls of parties. The ending increased my rating. Very vulnerable and touching.
