this movie was so crazy, i didn’t know what to expect but i really enjoyed it. i was stressed the whole time my eyes were glued to the screen. the way everything connected had me floored over and over again, and when he was in the paper mache 🫣 so uneasy but also funny?

I was surprised how much I really liked this film. Scorsese absolutely cooked directing this and the story was such a crazy and wild ride that kept me engaged the entire time. Griffin Dunne was fantastic and really sold how a normal guy would react in a situation like this

such a strange scorsese project, by far one of his most stylistically unique and utterly brilliant films. a constant thrill-ride from the literal thrill-ride onwards with amazing performances and immensely powerful cinematography. infinitely enjoyable

Talk about having the worst night of your life! I guess SoHo was just full of crazies back in the 80s. If I would have had the night that this guy had, I would have been scarred for life and probably never have gone out again! Definitely not one of my favorite Scorsese films.

This was batshit insane from start to finish and I loved every second of it. It’s unlike any other Scorsese film and I think that’s what makes it so refreshing. It’s a remarkable film that I highly recommend watching. The less you know about it, the better. Just watch it. 8/10

borderline of meh and like. for scorsese i just felt like it was kind of weak. the ending to me was completely unrewarding after watching a character go through hell. also completely improbable

After Hours is a brilliant movie, it’s one of those good-ass movies that balances everything a movie of this originality and this caliber should, it’s got a phenomenal script, soundtrack and especially pacing, I found myself believing this might be Scorsese’s best, which to be completely honest isn’t a very high bar for me, only really seen Goodfellas and TWOWS but neither of these brush a 9.

The Kafkaesque One Act Only 27.1/30
Plot 9.3/10 (Relentless in its excellent execution of anxiety and the black comedy that can come with it.)
Soundtrack/Score 10/10 (A phenomenal original soundtrack that echoes mid 80s in the best neo-classical way.)
Acting 9.5/10 (Griffin does a fantastic job so much so I wanted to see him in more shot, also Home Alone parents are in this so that’s pretty good.)
Pacing 10/10 (Absolutely. Fucking. Brutal.)
Cinematography 9.6/10 (Absolutely solid, I especially loved the covering of his eyes during a certain gun scene.)
Character Development 9.5/10 (After hours makes you feel so relatable and built on Paul, however all the other characters just fall flat of being plot devices except Tom, he’s just a goat.)
Writing 9.7/10 (So how can wake his life infinitely worse? A HAH.)
Ending 9/10 (Very solid, just wish there was a bit more is it felt minorly unearned and undeserved.)
Direction 9.3/10 (Scorsese is a great director in this, but I need more to prove he’s as good as people make him out to be.)
