the acting was great but the plot didn’t do it for me. the abandonment of the mystery they were building at the beginning to chase wade’s psychotic breakdown felt strange and out of place. i appreciated the portrayal of his turning into the thing he hated most in the form of his father but it didn’t work right for the story they were building. they build up this weird mystery thing with the brother just to end up ignoring it to focus on his daddy issues. left me more confused and uncertain at what it was trying to say than anything

This might be one of the angriest films I’ve ever seen. Deeply unsettling and beautifully shot, this seething look at generational trauma and toxic masculinity sneaks up on you until it grabs you by the throat, refusing to let go.

Really makes you appreciate having good parents. Nolte's unbelievably raspy voice matches perfectly with the character we see on screen. The non-verbal acting in this movie is top-tier as well
