I could be really knit-picky (like missing the OG voice cast, I think changing them was wrong), but honestly I just loved seeing these characters again. There was a lot to love about this movie, not perfect but well done
The Suki erasure was egregious though, justice for my girl

Yes, I’ve already watched it and we all know what that means:
1- Sublime, just like the entire franchise
2- They were so afraid of the Katara–Zuko ship that they avoided giving them a single direct conversation in the entire film
3- Daddy Zuko every appearance left me breathless🔥

Looked amazing, the soundtrack was amazing, but the voice acting could have been better - yes I know it’s not supposed to be out

Disappointed by this. Zero character growth from Aang from the end of the show until this movie which feels super unrealistic; a bunch of random fan service that feels plunked in in an inelegant and clunky way; and a couple of new characters that don’t fit the ATLA vibe at all.

It was so good. I loved it because all of the 4 nations got together and formed a massive city and the fight at the end was so cool. I can’t believe that they almost brought back the Airbenders. But they basically did because since there was a lot of sky bisons!

In another universe, I’m having the time of my life watching this in cinema. Such a pity it got leaked prior the release, what a bad day for the makers. It was so good, did live up my expectations and exceed my hype. Everyone was super hot (Zuko, I’m watching you).

It was fun and very nostalgic, but setting the nostalgia and fan service asside, I think the movie was just ok.
The plot is fine, but feels weird at times. It feels like there’s a lot of plot armor moments, and a lot of moments that feel weird because they obviously only happen because the writters want to take the plot in a direction it cant naturally go in with the path they’ve put the characters on. This leads to characters just seemingly choosing to do things they didnt need to do, or intentionally weakening themselves i order for ”challenges” to occure which takes the plot in a different direction.
A good example of this (very minor spoiler warning) is Aang and the Avatar state, which honestly feels like a joke in this movie. All because if they didn’t heavily nerf him and the Avatar state, this movie could probably have been over in half the runtime or less. One might say ”Then they just did what they had to for the sake of the story?”, but to that I say, then I’d rather have had a different story that present challenges on the same powerscale as our main cast, instead of nerfing our main cast to take on a smaller threat…
Other than the plot being a bit mediocre, the visuals are great, and I really enjoyed seeing some bending on screen finally, after all these years! The voice acting was good too, but it does rub me the wrong way how they chose to hire celebrity actors for the characters instead of bringing back the og cast. I mean come on, they literally had the perfect opportunity, considering the og voice cast were basically the same age as their characters back then, and are now also basically the same age as the characters are in this movie. They literally could not have gotten a better and more accurate voice cast. But apparently hiring famous names is more important…

As a childhood mega fan of ATLA I had to take a few days to write this review, since I have A LOT of issues with this movie. Despite this, I still rated it as loved, because I recognize the hard work that went into this and still think for regular watchers it’s a great animated film.
✨However✨
Having to watch two story lines that we have already witnessed with one being in ATLA and the other being TLOK, there was no reason to retell those stories mashed together and worse than what was already told.
Fans don’t want to see another story about an Airbender getting pulled out of ice after years to discover his entire race is gone.
Fans don’t want to see another story about a non-bender turned by the spirit realm into an Airbender and trying to corrupt the new age of airbending.
Fans wanted to see another wonderfully written story that breaks societies norms of that time, and bring up heavy topics while having sick ass bending. Instead we got an Aang/Zaheer reboot 😀
Now the animation was BEAUTIFUL and sooooo well done, but did it remind me of anime like the old shows? No. Did it remind me of the various superhero cartoons becoming popular? Yes.
And now to bring up my biggest gripe where was the absolute BEAST of a unit that is the Avatar GAANG (not fucking Team Avatar thats Korra’s team😤) when trying to fight this wannabe bender?????!!!!!! DID WE NOT SEE THIS EXACT TEAM RIP THROUGH BA SING SE JUST TO GET TO THE EARTH KING?!?!?! DID WE NOT SEE THIS EXACT TEAM GO UP AGAINST AN ENTIRE NATION AT THEIR PEAK DURING THE DAY OF THE BLACK SUN?!?!?!!?
BUT THIS AIRBENDER THAT JUST CAME OUT OF ICE IS SOMEHOW UNSTOPPABLE?!?!?! AANG ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH YOUR AVATAR STATE?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR LACKING AND FOR WHAT HUH FOR WHAT YOU COUDVE EASILY SMOKED HIS ASS🙄😤😤
I get it this man is from a different time and the golden era of air bending he knows unique techniques never seen before, but the absolute disrespect given to this elite team by the writers was downright despicable🙃
Then we have these amazing animated shots of us as the viewer being flung around as the bending. cool. nice. NO STOP IT DON’T DO THAT SHIT I WANT TO SEE THE BENDING!!!!!!😤😤😤 I WANT A PULLED OUT VIEW OF SOME CRAZY BENDING ITS NOT TOO MUCH TO ASK IT WAS ALWAYS DONE BEFORE.
And I’m not even gonna get started on all the small details that don’t coincide with what we know of this amazing world, and the fact that OUR GIRL SUKI ISNT IN IT😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Anyways, I still loved seeing the Gaang again, I see why everyone is thirsting over Zuko, but listen Aang in the first ten minutes 👀 honorable mention if you imagine book 3 hair on Aang with those muscles😏 Katara better watch out💀
I missed the old voices, but think the new cast did wonderful in their roles. And despite the mashup storyline, I think they incorporated ATLA, the comics, and TLOK pretty well into the world itself and the timeline for where they’re at. I do miss seeing Sokka with his meteorite sword he didn’t get to be as bad ass as he normally is in this movie.
✨okokok thanks for coming to my RantTalk✨

I’m a bit disappointed, I was really hoping to love this movie, but it just wasn’t good.
Everything was very rushed so there wasn’t any breathing room for anything. There wasn’t any character development, and for the character we didn’t know didn’t have any depth

dont get me wrong the animation was incredible, but the style felt overly modernized and took the fun & whimsy away that the original show had. most of the voice actors didnt give the energy needed and it felt unnatural. It was nice to see these characters again regardless

I love this film. I absolutely love it. But what I do want to say is that Paramount are a disgrace, the animators who poured so much love and detail into this film deserved more pay and for this movie to be shown in the cinema. Support real art, support the animators. 9.5/10

i fr cannot understand why all animated movies are not animated in this EXACT animation style - it’s so beautiful and detailed and doesn’t look like ai slop like the disney movies now - the story is peak like everyone knew it would be and i truly just loved seeing all of these characters back on the big screen

Getting to see these characters again, aged up for a brand new adventure made me so happy. After loving the show and it being a huge part of my childhood just made this movie hit different. I’m happy I’ve finally got to watch this. The expansion of the lore was so cool and interesting, as well as the new characters! The story was really good. The animation was amazing! I really didn’t mind the new voice actors, in fact i actually enjoyed it (especially Steven yeun) I loved that they explored more of the spirit world and how Aang had to deal with his grief and learn self forgiveness! Now all I kept thinking throughout this movie, I wish I was watching it in a theater 😭 paramount, I will never forgive you for that decision.

So happy to see the Gaang back together. Beautiful animation and a fun story. All the bending and fights looked great especially the first fight between Aang and the Denied. They kept the humor and dynamics from the original show while also giving some maturity to the group. Wish they would have a theatrical release. Loved seeing everyone again and all the Easter eggs within the film. Only wish we had a little tease of the Avatar’s children. Hopeful for more Avatar projects to come. Team Avatar is back and better than ever!
