Big slay. Subtle communications through saturation was beautiful. Also I laughed every time Julianne Moore laughed. I love this film

Glad to have finally watched this. Tom Ford has a such a way with his directing efforts that feel so effortless, it’s a treat when he actually decides to do it!

Beautiful story of rekindling one’s lust for life in the midst of grief. It’s effectively told through a single, important day with drabs of flashbacks to give context. It’s very effective, writing is great, as is the score. But the cinematography and the use of colour is what makes it pop and come together. I’ve never known a warm colour temp and vivid imagery could make you feel a certain way…

Colin Firth is really tremendous here, I’d have liked to see him win Best Actor, but that year was ridiculously stacked so I can’t be mad about it. Matthew Goode is great scattered throughout, I do find it strange how his career never really propelled. Also very easily the best Nicholas Hoult has ever looked - holy shit.

Really looking forward to Ford’s Cry to Heaven, if it does actually come out this year, which I seriously hope it does.
