Interesting movie, however there’s not a lot happening. Sure, he has the divorce and there’s the Korean kid who almost sues him but like there’s not much boom big stuff. No big fighting divorced, no firing from uni etc. You could argue this fits the movie but I think it would’ve

I really wish the opening sequence was the whole movie. It looked and played out insanely 'daydream' like. Almost like a cursed fairytale. However, that's where the fairytale ends. It flicks to the boring modern-day world, following a boring modern-day family. I understand that most of this is down to story and messages, tackling the serious questions of life, etc, but I had zero interest and my patience wore way too thin. Especially after having such a great opening. Unlike most Coen projects, there was no fun or mystery we could grab onto so I turned it off after the halfway mark.

its sure is a great movie, I liked the visuals and the acting really much. It's so intellectual and philosophical. I had a grey feeling and something on my stomach watching it

The ending seemed self-indulgent, but the concept of consequences in the chaos was interesting. He tells the Korean student, “Actions always have consequences.” Then says to everyone (wife/collector/boss), “I didn’t do anything.” Then, he changes the grade and takes the bribe.

an underrated coen brother’s film full of superb symbolism and meaningful sequences, largely stemming from the jewish faith. probably too intellectual for me but i was still able to appreciate the gorgeous visuals, phenomenal acting, and perfect script. uniquely special

Hard to call it a comedy, seems more likely a drama with something to say about life.

Why does he make us feel questions without giving any answers.
Embrace the mystery.

not much happening but the meaning underneath it all is interesting. The pace everything was shot at was quick and enjoyable
