A Man Called Otto

WOW. I was not prepared. It managed to be so funny and heartwarming as it navigated heartbreak, loss and finding meaning in living. Lots of comedy, but it knew exactly when to be serious. Mariana Treviño was easily my favorite part, but Tom Hanks excelled as Otto. A must

i actually don’t know if i’ll ever recover from this movie. maybe it’s bc i’m ab to get my period but i couldn’t stop crying. if mariana treviño doesn’t get best supporting actress i will scream she WAS the movie. it was so heartbreaking and funny and just so much. incredible.

Predictable from the start and Hanks‘ performance feels superficial and stale. All the ‚jokes‘ in the script give off a ‚the younger generations is lazy/fragile/etc.‘ kind of vibe. Feels very much like Hanks is trying to appeal to an audience that consists of conservative boomers

A nice watch and feel good story. A little cheesy but not in a bad way.

I was a little thrown off by all the suicide attempts. It felt like that was the only way they made the movie dramatic except the scene where he asks for Marisol’s phone.

Also him getting an EV truck at the end was a total sellout job because no person can fix an EV with an Allan Wrench. Also if cars were such a large part of his life it just doesn’t make sense. Maybe it was supposed be symbolic that he’s open to new things but idk… probably a money thing.
