A Ghost Story Reviews

Slow moving and ethereal, I found it to be best described as visual poetry, pondering time, death, love and legacy. Despite the molasses like pacing, I was glued to the screen, and I’ve been unable to stop thinking about for months. Not for everyone, but perfect for me.

Shit movie. Not a single redeemable quality. Bad acting. Bad story. Bad visuals. Bad directing. Bad theory that the movie is based on. It’s just terrible in every possible way. But not in a “so bad it’s good”, it is B O R I N G !!!!. Just so bad. Don’t watch ever. Watch the Whale

Beautifully shot movie but very slow with not much happening, even with this it kept me engaged throughout

A mellow, little dialogue, sappy movie. I enjoyed it.

A pretentious meditation on place, life and death. It features a powerful message but has little to no dialogue. There should’ve been a better way to get the message across. Why did a studio fund this movie? Was it necessary to have a woman eat pie for four minutes to show grief?

Don’t watch it if you’re looking for a spooky/horror/fast paced movie.
It’s incredibly SLOW paced but beautiful and haunting (no pun intended) and it will stick with you for a long time after.

for such a small and minimalistic film, this feels truly epic in scale, transcending lifetimes and centuries of history to tell an incredibly impactful and moving story. perfect performances, gorgeous visuals, and a genius premise; a slower watch, but one that captivates

It’s okay.

Beautiful movie and the monologue on the pointlessness / beauty of life was amazing. I loved the cinematography and how they depicted ghosts. Honestly highly recommend but fully aware that this is very much an acquired taste.

Really enjoyed the way this story was portrayed on the screen & the usage of looping the story into itself was done in such a tasteful way but I will say I think only film buffs / eccentric lovers will enjoy this as the pacing can be slow but not boring tho theres little dialogue

It was unique. It’s very slow. Some interesting concepts and shots. Very bleak but I’m sure it’s a matter of interpretation. Won’t watch again though.

I remember when this was released and most said it was slow and boring. So even though it was A24, I placed it on the back burner. They weren’t wrong about slow but slow isn’t always a bad thing. 2 scenes keep me from really loving this but overall I very much enjoyed this. 7/10
