Cruise, Moore, and Nicholson...a trilogy you can't really go wrong with. As soon as I realised Aaron Sorkin adapted the screenplay, from an actual play, it all clicked. The centre of drama is performance, heavy dialogue and nerve-racking character work. My mind linked to the million propaganda core movies Hollywood loves to enlist, but I wouldn't call this that...Its motifs are realistic and still too common. From visible themes like age, gender, and hierarchy. To the not-so-visible, corruption, honour, and courage. The plot plays out like the trial itself. Humourous till truth spills horrific.

Even with a slow start, this ends up being well organized, perfectly performed, and surprisingly compelling. Over thirty years later, this film holds up incredibly well.
