This entire film feels like a literal response to critics of the first, but lacks everything that made its predecessor mysterious and beautiful.

Yes, it doesn’t have the same flair or vision as ‘2001’, but it is still a fairly decent follow-up and even attempts to answer some of the questions left over from the first film
