Great psychological thriller movie with wonderful performances and fun mind bending sequences.
Non spoiler PSA: Make sure you watch the theatrical cut. The directors cut ending is garbage.

Imo they tried so hard yet not at all. There’s great special effects & it mimics the vibe of ghost hunter shows & what not but there’s something unserious about John Cusack in this role which is probably intentional but his smugness bothers me… plus he also looks like Shane Madej

1408 is a genuinely creepy and masterfully executed psychological thriller that earns a 7.2/10 rating. Director Mikael Håfström crafts an unsettling and suspenseful haunted house story where the house is a single, malevolent hotel room.
Highlights:
• Compelling Premise: The screenplay brilliantly expands King's short story into a compelling feature, with a cynical paranormal debunker trapped in a room that's truly evil.
• Fantastic Performance: John Cusack delivers a tour-de-force performance, convincingly portraying the protagonist's descent from smug disbelief to sheer terror.
• Masterful Direction: Håfström's direction builds a sense of escalating, claustrophobic dread, making the room itself a living, breathing antagonist.
Criticisms:
• Special Effects: The third act occasionally leans into larger-scale special effects, undercutting the grounded tension.
• Multiple Endings: The existence of multiple endings can lead to a less definitive and impactful conclusion.
Overall, 1408 is a smart, scary, and effective horror film that's one of the best Stephen King adaptations, powered by a phenomenal performance and masterful suspense.
