One of the things I can't stand is when 90% of a movie is boring and nothing really happens, then it throws in a couple of great scenes during the last 10 minutes or so.
The deceived audience end up thinking they liked the movie and that it was great, when in reality they only-

There are definitely creepy moments throughout the film, and the ending does go hard, but not crazy enough to shock me. Roman Polanski's character was so fucking dull that it made the film drag on for too long. They should've just had Isabelle Adjani be the lead.

Insane psychological thriller. Either a story of relentless judgement or of a man driving himself into madness. Possibly both. Either way the film revolves around xenophobia.
