Before going to see Moana, I had read scathing reviews online, all of which claimed the film was awful, the acting was mediocre, and that a live action remake of a classic animated original was entirely unnecessary. Consequently, I was not expecting to enjoy this whatsoever, and I only booked tickets to have an evening out with a friend.

As I have never seen the original animated version, I found the online criticism to be entirely exaggerated; the claims that the film was awful or poorly acted simply did not ring true. I thought the cinematography featured some beautiful shots, the plot was easy to follow, and the cast did a solid job of delivering an enjoyable family film. My only major grievance was that wig; Dwayne Johnson looked a mess throughout, though eventually, you just learn to embrace the absurdity of it.

While it may be considered an unnecessary live action remake by fans of the original, I disagreed with the critics and audience regarding the quality of the film and its performances. On its own merits, and despite it not being my usual preference, I found it to be a pleasant watch that I am sure many families across the world will enjoy. I think people need to stop being so intense about hating things; it really isn't that serious.

It is not so bad, but I do still think it is unnecessary and disney should give up on live actions. The rock was definitely the best part for me

I honestly didn’t expect The Rock to own his role like that, but he was genuinely hilarious. 😂 This was a good live-action adaptation. Is it better than the original, no but still a good live action. Catherine was absolutely gorgeous and did an amazing job as Moana.

I definitely teared up seeing my people represented on the big screen. ❤️ To everyone saying this movie wasn’t necessary, I get where you’re coming from—but seeing Polynesian culture and people represented like this means so much. We don’t get nearly enough of that, and it’s something worth celebrating.

Just for children

Was it needed? No. Was it still a great watch? Yes!!!

It’s was basically the animated film. Actress even SOUNDED like the original.

Watched in 3d, lots of fun.

It was good just like the animation. I think people overreacted.

It wasn’t bad, but it felt like they just added real actors to the original movie. The CGI was a little bit weird ? I don’t really know how to explain it (for instance in some parts the ocean was way too fake).
The acting was good.
I didn’t really like some cuts.

La gente se quejaba porque los live-actions anteriores de Disney añadían cosas nuevas a la película original y esta es literalmente un shot-by-shot pero también está mal. THAN WHAT DO YOU WANT??? Muy divertida, ambientación y gama de colores de 10, gran banda sonora y actorazos.

I like this. Holds pretty close to the animation, and the actors do a good job. I think it’s worth a watch

agreed with whoever said live action but no action 😭,I loved the songs smm genuinely had me cryinf at every one URGH, the songs were worth the ticket. god bless my king lin

Vi muchas críticas malas a la película. Por mi parte a mi me gustó bastante, hasta más que la animada. El arte está muy bien logrado y el cgi casi ni se nota

The animated version is one of the top Disney films. This is uninspired even if I think the actors are giving their best

A very faithful version to the original however if you are going to watch Moana, watch the animated one instead.

How far will Disney go to milk every last dollar out of this princess?
