Slow burn crime thriller with fantastic cast and setting. Didn’t take quite as many story telling risks as other Nolan movies but moral dilemmas it’s based on definitely get more interesting as the movie progresses.

I finished this wondering where the plot twists I was supposed to be stung in the ass with by Nolan were.
Great movie I'm not saying it was bad or anything, it just doesn't hold up that much compared to some of his other works.

Insomnia

This movie is like if I binged the Hannibal tv show and then stayed up all night and wrote a screenplay, but if I was mostly just thinking about how sleepy I was while watching Hannibal. The first half was kinda balls but the second half was sooo good and had such great suspense so idk how I feel about that. Like in the beginning every single one of Pacino’s lines are just shitty one liners😭😭?? But he becomes such a great, fleshed out, erratic character by the end so you just have to persevere through the shit dialog.

Maybe my brain is just deteriorating but istg Pacino and Williams had so much tension, like they were getting all up in each other’s faces and staring into each other’s eyes and shit… gay…

I liked that one girl that was lowkey trying to fuck Al Pacino cause that really resonated with me.

Oh ykw else pissed me off, how it felt like there was no faith in the viewer at all to remember things or put the pieces together. Like when Will pulls out the gun he picked up from when they were down near the cabin and then it flashes back to him picking up the gun as if it wasn’t a unique looking gun and there had already been a closeup on it?? which indicated it’s importance?? Like I’m not stupid and I hate when it feels like the director thinks I’m stupid. Don’t insult me Christopher Nolan 😒😒.

Imagine your 3rd feature film to include Al Pacino AND Robin Williams.

Robin Williams’ villain will always stick with me.
